14 June @ 1:00 pm 3:30 pm

MURGATROYD’S BRINE PUMPS – OPEN THIS WEEKEND! 🔥
📅 Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June
📍 Brooks Lane, Middlewich
⏰ 12 noon – 3.30pm
🎟 FREE ENTRY – ALL WELCOME

Step back 400 years and witness the sights, sounds and smells of Cheshire’s ancient salt industry!
This weekend we unveil something very special – our newly completed Medieval Salt Hearth, built over recent weeks with the support of British Salt, Mantraco Landscapes, Mincrete and Moreton Contractors.
For the first time, we will fire the hearth with logs and demonstrate the dramatic process used to make salt in the 1600s, using natural brine supplied by our friends at British Salt. Watch as flames roar beneath the pan and discover how generations of local people produced the “white gold” that made Middlewich famous and lay the foundations of the Cheshire chemicals industry.

🔥 The fire will be lit at 12 noon.
🧂 Salt-making demonstrations throughout Sunday afternoon from 1.30pm.
⚙️ Explore Murgatroyd’s restored Brine Pumps and hear the remarkable story of salt production in Middlewich.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see history brought back to life!
